President Trump is being forced yet again to defend his good name and reputation. But this time, he’s also being challenged to defend his longstanding businesses and their continued success. Early Monday, the Democratic attorneys general of Maryland and the District of Columbia filed an absurd lawsuit claiming that President Trump’s business interests both undermine public trust and violate the Constitution.
Brian E. Frosh, the Maryland attorney general, said if the lawsuit does progress into a discovery phase, he and Karl Racine – attorney general for the District of Columbia – would work to obtain President Trump’s tax returns to fully understand the extent of his business dealings.
“It is unprecedented that the American people must question day after day whether decisions are made and actions are taken to benefit the United States or to benefit Donald Trump,” said Frosh. “The president’s conflicts of interest threaten our democracy.”
But the Justice Department had a much more realistic point of view, stating that even IF the President had violated certain prohibitions, the necessary action would inevitably be decided by Congress, not a federal judge. Shedding more light on the subject, R.N.C. spokeswoman Lindsay Jancek called the new lawsuit “absurd.”
“The actions by the attorneys general represent the kind of partisan grandstanding voters across the country have come to despise.”
The suit also claims that our Commander-In-Chief has used the presidency to help his businesses, but President Trump and his entire staff have taken every reasonable step to distance himself from the Trump Organization, passing off the empire to his adult sons.
The REAL question here is who holds these people accountable for their unending, unfounded, unbelievable accusations against our President? Since when is it a crime to be a successful American?
We NEED to END these desperate attempts at smearing President Trump’s good name!
