In a Huffington Post interview, Patagonia CEO Rose Marcario said that she is prepared to sue President Donald Trump after his administration rolled back protection of federal lands.
“We have to fight like hell to keep every inch of public land,” the 52-year-old CEO said.
Marcario who took over the popular outdoors outfitting firm in 2014. She said she doesn’t have a “lot of faith in politics and politicians right now.” She is putting her money where her mouth is.
She now wants to sue the Trump administration for what she is calling the mishandling of the Bears Ear Monument. It is a mineral rich area and the Trump administration issued an executive order to review the national monument.
“A president does not have the authority to rescind a national monument,” Marcario said in a statement right after Trump put out his executive order. “An attempt to change the boundaries ignores the review process of cultural and historical characteristics and the public input.”
